More than half a century ago, Wongaburra Society was established through the generosity and vision of the Beaudesert community, with the shared goal of enabling older people to remain living within the community they knew and loved.

The friendly, compassionate spirit for which rural Australia is renowned continues to define both Beaudesert and Wongaburra. It is this strong sense of community that has been at the heart of our organisation since its beginning.

On 29 October 1965, the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce proposed the development of a home for older people. The idea was embraced by the local community, and through the dedication and support of countless individuals, the vision became a reality. Just five years later, Wongaburra officially opened its doors on 22 August 1970, with the opening conducted by Dame Annabel Rankin.

Since then, Wongaburra has grown and evolved into a modern aged care provider, delivering high-quality Residential Aged Care, Home Care (the Support at Home Program) and services for eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients, while remaining true to the values on which it was founded.

We are proud to support older people across Beaudesert and the surrounding communities by promoting independence, dignity and choice. Whether through residential care, in-home support (the Support at Home Program), or DVA-funded services, our dedicated team is committed to helping people live safely, comfortably and with confidence. As the needs of our community continue to evolve, so too does Wongaburra, always looking for new ways to enhance the care, services and lifestyle opportunities we provide.
